Since Jim Russo's family had always been involved in the cheese industry in Sorrento, Italy and in the United States, it was only natural that he would continue in the cheese business, a business in which he had worked in previous years. Therefore, in 1980, Jim Russo initiated a truck route in the Steuben County area. Since he was the only employee, he enlisted the help of his family when school was not in session. Tony Russo, his older son, who now works with his father in the business, was nine years old when he helped unload and deliver his first case of cheese. In the beginning, Jim operated with one truck; eventually he rented a cooler and warehouse. In 1985, the first building on Route 415 South was erected; a year later, the retail store was opened. |
